The 4th of July is less than a week away and it just happens to be one of my favorite holidays. Something about celebrating America's independence pool side with burgers on the grill and a fireworks show at night makes the 4th one of my favorite days of summer.
This is one of those holidays that many people celebrate every year with friends and family but, since it's not a more popular holiday like Thanksgiving or Christmas, you may not think of the value of capturing photo memories.
But if you make a point to celebrate the 4th each year, then this is one of those traditions I've talked about in past posts that you must capture with photo memories! You will want to look back on this annual tradition and the fun times you had years from now. Read below to learn 4 steps to ensure you capture memories of the 4th-
1. Make sure your camera is charged and working properly
Whether you use a traditional camera or your camera phone, making sure it's charged is the first step to capturing the perfect photo memories. Additionally, you want to make sure that your camera is working properly and that you have enough memory.
2. Take photos that really capture the 4th and your traditions
There's nothing wrong with taking the types of photos you take at other events such as candid shots of people talking or two people posing for a photo. But make sure that you also include photos that distinguish your 4th of July tradition from other occasions. Take a photo of someone eating a watermelon, pose beside a box of fireworks, or capture an image of the festive red, white, and blue decorated table before dinner.
3. Share your photos and ask friends and family to do the same
Emailing your photos to other people who celebrated with you or uploading photos to sites like Facebook is one way to share your memories with friends and family. It's also important to encourage others who took photos to upload them and share them with you as they may have captured memories that you missed.
4. Preserve and display your memories so they aren't lost or forgotten
This is the most important step! Leaving photos on cameras is the worst as they get buried under the next photos you take. Even if you manage to put them on your computer and upload them to sites like Facebook, they still are soon forgotten with the hundreds of new photos uploaded daily by your friends. This is why I'm so passionate about my business! Please make sure that you put your photos in a beautiful book, make printed copies, or even create photo gifts for friends and family who celebrated with you.
